The Silent Forest hideout is a major location in Darkwood located in the Silent Forest. It is the second one of four avaliable Hideouts the Protagonist makes use of.

Appearance[]

The Silent Forest Hideout is slightly bigger then the first one. It has seven separate rooms in total, with several pieces of furniture and accessories in them. The layout of the rooms changes every playthrough. A Well and a small shed housing the hideout's Generator are also present outside.

The entrance room (3) has a welcome mat laying on the floor. Two rooms are empty and have collapsed walls. In the living room (2) there is a chair, a table and a small wardrobe. There is a bathtub and some clothes on the floor inside the bathroom (4), while a long shelf can be found in another room (1). The workshop (5) contains the Workbench as well as the Oven. The Workbench contains the Bike Bell, which can be used to summon the Bike Man, who can bring the items from another hideout to the current one.

There is a Table Saw in front of the small shed, which can be used to create Boards from Wood Logs. The shed consists of two rooms, one of them (9) containing the Generator and the second one (8) a crate which can only be unlocked by using the Chest Key, found in the Cottage. The crate contains a Watch and a Metal Pipe, among some more common things.

A broken Well, which can be repaired with 4 Boards, can be found next to the house. The player can drink from the repaired Well once per day to restore some health.

Outside the player can also find an old, broken tractor.

After unlocking the shortcut through the Holes in the Village, they will appear near the Hideout.

Strategy[]

Strategy 1[]

The workshop (5) seems like the best place for waiting out the night. It contains both, the Oven and the Workbench which can be useful during the night. Additionaly this room has only one window, one set of doors that lead to the room with collapsed wall and one set of doors that lead to the lobby. If you decide to use this room for the night:

  • Barricade the window and the door that leads to the empty room with collapsed wall and place bear traps under them for the enemies to get trapped when they come in.
  • Door leading to the lobby does not require barricading, as the passage through the bathroom can be easily blocked by the bathtub.
  • By bringing some more furniture you can additionaly block off the barricaded entrances.
  • Drag all of the lamps inside the workshop, but make sure that the light is not coming out through the barricaded window since it will draw in enemies.

Strategy 2[]

The generator room (9) is another good option. It is much easier to fortify it than the main house since it has only two entrances leading to the outside. It is also small enough to be easy to defend while leaving a decent amount of space for moving around and jucking enemies. Unfortunatelly it lacks the Workbench so you won't be able to get any additional items during the night. If you decide to use this room for the night:

  • Barricade all entrances and use traps under them.
  • By bringing some more furniture you can additionaly block off the barricaded entrances.
  • Drag all of the lamps inside, but make sure that the light is not coming out through the barricaded window since it will draw in enemies.

Strategy 3[]

Alternatively, the player can move all the lamps into the courtyard in front of the generator building and actively wait out the night while directly confronting any hostile creatures such as savages and banshees in the courtyard. This strategy offers an very open space to maneuver in a fight, allows the player to catch most stragglers, loot them, and has an very low cost, only needing materials to repair weapons by the time the night ends.

Trivia[]

  • This location was formerly known as the Farmhouse.
  • Until Alpha 6, a privy could be found in this hideout. It has since been removed.
  • Before version 1.1 several savages could be found defending the hideout upon arrival.
