The Key on a Keyring can be found in the Mushroom Glade, inside the Mushroom Granny's house on a shelf right next to the old lady herself.

The key unlocks a metal door inside the house with a floral doormat at the Village (Swamp). The etchings on the keyring match the doormat in front of the building.
