The Underground Key is a miscellaneous item in chapter 2 of Darkwood. It appears to be the exact duplicate of the big, metal key.

Obtaining[]

The underground key can be found on a corpse underneath a grave next to the old shed in the Swamp. The corpse is initially buried completely, but the grave can be dug with a shovel that has at least 50% durability remaining.

Usage[]

Just as the flavor text describes it, this key cannot be used to reopen the trapdoor leading back to the Bunker Entrance in the Swamp hideout and therefore serves no purpose for the remainder of chapter 2, other than providing some lore element. It also has no value, rendering it worthless to sell and a waste of inventory space to keep.

Trivia[]

  • Not much is known about this duplicate key nor the identity of the corpse who was carrying it. One can only speculate it might have been one of the unnamed members of the Outsiders considering the corpse's possession of a duplicate tunnel no. 21 key and the clues left behind in the old shed by its previous occupant.
  • It is unknown whether there are any connections between the corpse in the grave and the one of a young boy in the old shed who might have been the blessed son of the Elephants.
